Don Gorski is a 32-year resident of Darien with wife Kathy and grown children Matthew and Sarah. Having grown up in the Boston area (Lynn) and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) with a Communications/Marketing degree, I had a fledgling early career behind the mike doing play by play radio broadcasts for UMass football and basketball and Boston University hockey when they went to the Frozen Four in 1976. However, an exciting opportunity to join CBS Radio in Boston ensued on the advertising sales and management side of the business which evolved into a 12-year career as General Sales Manager of WCBS Newsradio 88 and VP of Sales at CBS Radio Representatives in New York.

After a management stint at KRLD in Dallas, I returned to New York as the first Director of Sales for ESPN Radio Network where we launched an NBA partnership that still exists today. Several years later I joined Winnercomm Sports – a TV production and advertising sales company where I became EVP of Sales representing ESPN’s television lineup of “niche” sports including the Professional Bowlers Tour, the Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup of thoroughbred racing, USA Women’s softball, National Finals Rodeo and many others. After a stint as VP of Sports Sales at Westwood One representing the NFL and college basketball’s March Madness, I launched my own sports sales consultancy working with the American Kennel Club’s Media Group and Ann Liguori’s “Talking Golf” show on WFAN-NY.

My wife Kathy had a highly successful 35-year sales career at Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon and Mentor divisions – now retired and a frequent volunteer at New Covenant House in Stamford. Our children – Matthew and Sarah – each had solid academic and sports accomplishments at Darien High School. Matt captained the hockey team and was an All-State and All-American defenseman on the lacrosse team and played at Ohio State. Sarah captained the girls’ volleyball team and was an All-State selection as a Senior. She was an All-Conference middle hitter at Gettysburg College.

I am a longtime volunteer at St. Thomas More parish. I am an avid golfer, have been a member of the Apawamis Club in Rye, New York for 40+ years, and have served as Men’s Golf Chair and as Vice President on the Board of Governors. I am also on the Board of Directors of the Westchester Seniors Golf Association and currently Vice President and Membership Chairman. We welcome all members of private clubs in Westchester and Fairfield counties aged 55 years and older to join the WSGA!
