SMA – SMCNC Golf Tournament — July 5, 2012

The SMA/SMCNC (Senior Men’sClub of New Canaan) Golf Tournament was held under very hot conditions on June 20th at the Silvermine Golf Club. Unfortunately, SMCNC was victorious in the inaugural golf tournament between the two senior organizations.

The general consensus was that this was a most enjoyable competition with good camaraderie and should be continued on an annual basis. With the full participation of our best players, we are hopeful that we can achieve a different result next year and deliver the trophy to SMA.

Annual Picnic — August 15, 2012

On August 15 we picnicked together at Weed Beach. Sixty SMA’ers and their guests enjoyed a perfect afternoon. The weather was ideal-cool and bright, the food-abundant and delicious, and the fellowship-extremely congenial. Thank you to Scott Hutchason and Tom Braydon for organizing this event and to those who arrived early to move and set up the tables.

Belmont Park Trip — May 24, 2012

Our next trip is to Belmont Park Race Track on May 24th. While enjoying a delicious buffet luncheon, you will be able to bet on and watch the races from above. You can also visit the paddock area or watch your horse win close-up at the rail. Sign up soon as this is our most popular event. The cost is $68 pp.

Trip to Hartford

On April 19th the SMA journeyed to Hartford, visiting the Wadsworth Atheneum and the Connecticut Governor’s residence. In between we enjoyed a filling family style lunch at Vito’s, a fine Italian restaurant in the center of Hartford serving food in the old world taste tradition.

Bowling

April 29, 2012 /

The Bowling Group has been one of DMA’s longest running activity groups. Some 15 bowlers attend at least a few times during the season with typical weekly attendance ranging from 6-10.  Skill levels vary but we have a handicap system much like golf so, whatever one’s skill level, we all have a good time with fun competition and lots of laughs.

Bowlers meet each Tuesday morning at 9AM at Nutmeg Bowl in Fairfield.  We are usually done with warm-up and three games by 11AM.   Also, many of us carpool.  If you’d like to join the fun, contact Tom Lom or Gehr Brown for more information.

The group meets on Tuesdays from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Nutmeg Bowl on Villa Avenue in Fairfield.
