John F. Bartlett was born 1942 in San Antonio, Texas, and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where he graduated from high school in 1960. He received a BA degree in history from Washington & Lee University in 1967 and an LLB degree in 1967.
He retired in August 2013, after working for 17 years as a lawyer for Emmet, Marin & Martin. He began his career with the National Housing Partnership in Washington, D.C., and went on to work in New York City for two law firms and a corporation.
In 1978, John and his wife Candy moved to Darien. They have two daughters and three grandchildren who live with their families in Darien. John now lives in Norwalk.
He is a member of the Weeburn Country Club, the Tokeneke Club and the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, a Burgundy wine tasting society. His interests include travel and wine collecting.
