Bob Baylis was born in 1938 in New York City. He graduated from St. Bernard’s School in 1952 and Phillips Exeter Academy in 1956. He received an A.B. degree in economics from Princeton University in 1960. In 1962, he graduated from Harvard Business School with an M.B.A. degree. He served part time in the U.S. Army Medical Corps Reserve as a specialist 5th class for five years. In 1963, he joined the First Boston Corporation which became Credit Suisse First Boston. During the last two years of his business career, he was chairman and CEO of Credit Suisse First Boston Pacific in Hong Kong. Bob served on the board of four charitable organizations and is a former board member of five corporations, including Gildan Activewear, Inc., where he was chairman of the board of directors. He and his wife Lois live in Darien and have three children and nine grandchildren.
