The 2027 open enrollment season will be one of the most tumultuous in recent years.  Key trends in the Medicare marketplace are the elimination of temporary Part D premium subsidies and increased regulatory scrutiny of Medicare Advantage Plans.  Overall Advantage Plan growth has slowed and aggressive hospital negotiations, benefit reductions, reduced product offerings, and retraction from unprofitable markets are common.

Other developments affecting the environment include the elimination of enhanced subsidies in the individual market in 2026 and the cuts in Medicaid slated to take effect in 2027.  These changes will disrupt hospital finances and challenges to our local hospitals can affect us all.

Finally, all Americans will continue to be affected by the approval of astoundingly expensive new prescription drugs.
