Doug Pratt was born in 1942 and is the son of a United States Army pilot. He grew up in many different Air Force bases in the United States and overseas. His family also has extensive ancestry in Essex, Conn., and his wife Lynn’s family is fourth generation in Rowayton. Both their children were born in England.
Pratt graduated from the University of Connecticut and began work at the Norden Systems Division of United Technologies while waiting to join flight school. He went on to serve 12 years as a fighter pilot from 1967 to 1979.
Returning to Norden Systems, Pratt worked on advanced radar systems for the F-22 and the F-35. He has worked on the design of over half the radar programs for military aviation for the past 30 years.
Pratt served two tours in Vietnam, one as Forward Air Controller and one as Aircraft Commander of F-111s and then went on to England for a tour in F -111s. His last two years he was stationed at Can-Air Controller and one as Aircraft Commander of F-111s and then went on to England for a tour in F-111s. His last two years he was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico.
He served on the Norwalk Board of Education for 12 years and is a life time member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is an avid duffer on the links and plays bridge with a friendly level of aggression.
